AmaWaterways Adds a Machu Picchu Extension
From April 2027, AmaWaterways' Magic of Colombia guests can add five nights in Lima, the Sacred Valley and Cusco, with first-class rail to Machu Picchu.
AmaWaterways now sells Peru as an add-on to its Colombia river cruise. According to AmaWaterways’ itinerary page, the five-night Boutique Machu Picchu land package is available on departures from April 2027. It is listed as a post-cruise programme for Magic of Colombia, a seven-night Magdalena River sailing from Barranquilla to Cartagena.
The five nights
- Lima: arrive and stay at The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center. Next morning, a cacao session at El Cacaotal, then Barranco and lunch at La Perlita before flying to Cusco.
- Sacred Valley: a resort stay, which the page does not name, and a tour of Ollantaytambo.
- Machu Picchu: Inca Rail First Class, a private guided tour of the sanctuary and dinner on the return train.
- Cusco: textiles at Chinchero, then a walking tour taking in Koricancha, the Plaza de Armas and the cathedral.
- Lima again: Museo Larco and lunch at its café, then departure the next morning.
The page lists 4- and 5-star hotels, daily breakfast, lunch and dinner experiences, daily guided tours and transfers within Peru. The single supplement is 50% of the per-person price.
