Turn on notifications
On iPhone or iPad: add us to your Home Screen
Apple only lets websites send notifications once they're saved to the Home Screen (iOS 16.4 or later). It takes ten seconds in Safari, and Not An Atlas then opens full screen, like an app.

1. Tap Share
Open notanatlas.com in Safari and tap the Share button: the square with an arrow pointing up, in the bar at the bottom (at the top on iPad).

2. Add to Home Screen
Scroll down the list and tap "Add to Home Screen". Keep "Open as Web App" switched on if you see it, then tap Add.

3. Open it and tap the bell
Open Not An Atlas from its new Home Screen icon, tap the bell at the top, choose your edition, then tap Allow.
Android
- Open notanatlas.com in Chrome.
- Tap the bell at the top and choose your edition.
- Tap Allow.
Computer
- Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari all work.
- Click the bell, choose your edition and click Allow when the browser asks.
What we send
Stories our editors flag as worth knowing now, for your edition (global news goes to everyone). 3 a day at most. No ads, no tracking beyond whether you opened it.
Optional: aurora storm alerts, northern or southern, when NOAA forecasts a storm strong enough to push the lights toward you. Switch them on from the bell or the live aurora map.
Change edition or turn off
Tap the bell any time. You can also turn notifications off in your phone or browser settings; we stop sending as soon as you do.
Not seeing them?
Check that Focus or Do Not Disturb is off, and that notifications for Not An Atlas (or your browser) are allowed in your device settings.
