Winter Sun From the Regions Means Egypt
easyJet's Newcastle–Hurghada and Manchester–Cairo flights start this autumn, and Jet2 adds Red Sea flights from six regional bases from mid-February 2027.
The new winter sun from UK regional airports this season is mostly Egypt. easyJet starts Newcastle to Hurghada on Tuesday 27 October and Manchester to Cairo on 9 November. Jet2 then adds Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh from six regional bases from mid-February 2027.

Jet2 also starts Egypt flights from East Midlands (Sharm on Fridays from 12 February, Hurghada on Saturdays from 13 February) and Leeds Bradford (Sharm on Saturdays from 13 February, Hurghada on Sundays from 14 February). Jet2 says the Egypt flights are year-round, so they carry on into summer 2027.
Jet2’s Egypt programme
Jet2 announced Egypt in December 2025 and confirmed it in September as part of 34 new routes for winter 2026/27. Edinburgh to Sharm El Sheikh and both Leeds Bradford routes are Jet2-only. Glasgow’s Hurghada flight is weekly on Thursdays, according to Glasgow Airport. Birmingham Airport gets the most, with two weekly flights to each resort.
North Africa, dates to follow
Three more winter sun routes have been announced, but no start dates have been published yet:
- easyJet, Birmingham to Agadir, for winter 2026
- Ryanair, Birmingham to Marrakesh, one of five new Birmingham routes for winter 2026
- Jet2, East Midlands to Agadir, for winter 2026/27
Bristol and the West
Bristol Airport has no new winter sun route this season. Its new winter flights are easyJet to Budapest and Strasbourg. easyJet’s Sal, Cape Verde, which started in May, runs year-round three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), and this is its first winter.
