easyJet's summer 2027 routes include Girona from Liverpool and Gatwick for the first time, opening the Costa Brava to UK travellers without going through Barcelona.

easyJet will fly to Girona for the first time from 2027, and the airport is the closest to the Costa Brava. In its summer 2027 announcement of 24 September, the airline said Liverpool–Girona starts 28 March, twice a week, and London Gatwick–Girona starts 3 June, three times a week. Spanish trade outlet Hosteltur says the Tuesday Gatwick flight runs only in peak season.

There are five more new Spanish routes, all twice weekly:

  • Liverpool–Murcia, from 29 March
  • Edinburgh–Bilbao, from 30 March
  • Aberdeen–Barcelona, from 31 March
  • Aberdeen–Palma de Mallorca, from 3 May
  • Biarritz–Málaga, from 7 May to 24 September

The Biarritz–Málaga route matters for itinerary building: it links the French Basque coast directly to Andalusia.

If you’re travelling: These are low-cost flights from the UK and France, not from Canada. They help if you’re already in London, Liverpool or Scotland and want a short hop to Catalonia, the Basque Country or the Balearics without changing in Madrid or Barcelona.

A note on dates: easyJet’s marketing email of 25 September gave different start dates for the two Girona routes than its official announcement. We have used the dates in the announcement.

Takeaway: For clients combining Britain and Spain in 2027, Gatwick–Girona gives a direct route to the Costa Brava and inland Catalonia that avoids Barcelona’s crowds.
