Bonfire Night is a Thursday this year, so London’s three big ticketed displays have moved to Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November. In each case, Sunday is the earlier, family-friendly night. Lewes keeps the date, Thursday 5 November, and its council is again asking visitors to stay away.

London’s ticketed displays

Battersea Park Fireworks Sat 7, Sun 8 Nov 18:00 Sat; 16:30 Sun ~20:30 Sat; ~19:00 Sun Adults £16.70; 5–15 £11.50; under-5s free
Blackheath Fireworks Sat 7 Nov 17:00 20:00 Adults from £16; 11–15 £10; under-10s £5

Alexandra Palace puts on fireworks and a drone show over the two days. Saturday is billed as a party night with an Eats Everything DJ set and a German beer festival. Sunday is a family day with a kids’ rave and a karaoke singalong. Both nights have a bonfire, ice skating and a funfair. There’s also a new viewing option on the Summit rooftop.

At Battersea Park Fireworks, tickets must be bought in advance, and none are sold at the gate. Saturday’s gates close at 20:00 and Sunday’s at 18:30, with no entry after that. Under-5s go free but still need a ticket. Bags are searched, and sparklers aren’t allowed. The nearest stations are Battersea Park, Queenstown Road and Battersea Power Station.

Blackheath Fireworks runs on the Common from 17:00 to 22:00, and Lewisham Council expects about 40,000 people. Under-18s must be with an adult, and each adult can bring up to four children. Fairground rides cost extra. Blackheath station is a seven-minute walk.

Lewes: Thursday 5 November

According to Lewes District Council, trains won’t call at Lewes, Falmer, Cooksbridge, Glynde or Southease from 17:00 on 5 November until the start of service on Friday 6 November. Road closures start at 16:45, and some roads stay shut until 01:00 or 02:00. Parking restrictions start at noon, and cars may be towed from some streets from 14:00. Police and staff will be at Brighton station to spot people heading for the bonfire.

Just in case. Hallstatt on a sunny day is her “this is why I travel” moment, the Highlands are where she'd go back tomorrow, and South Korea or Japan is next. Friends say bubbly, caring and fun. Her mum says chaotic but organized.
