For clients within a day’s drive or a short flight of Toronto, the second week of November has a dressed-up reason to visit. The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair runs from Friday 6 to Sunday 15 November 2026, and its Royal Horse Show evenings, especially the black-tie nights from 11 to 14 November, give advisors a hook for a premium city weekend in what is otherwise a quiet month.

The basics

The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair takes place in the Enercare Centre and Coca-Cola Coliseum at Exhibition Place, 100 Princes’ Blvd, on Toronto’s waterfront. The Royal says daily capacity is 30,000 guests, including 6,600 seats for the Horse Show in the Coliseum. The fair was founded in 1922, according to Destination Toronto.

The Royal Horse Show

The Royal Horse Show runs evening sessions at 7pm on most nights, with matinees on the weekends. Highlights the Royal lists:

  • Opening Night, Friday 6 November, 7pm: show jumping, the Mad Barn Indoor Eventing Challenge and round one of the Canadian Show Jumping Championship.
  • Friday 13 November, 7pm: the Percheron Six Horse Hitch and the new Royal Winning Round, in which the top ten from round one jump off for the larger share of the prize money.
  • Saturday 14 November, 7pm: the Longines FEI World Cup™ presented by Ecclestone Horse Transport, with 24 international show jumpers competing for the richest purse at the Royal, plus the Hackney Horse World Championships and Royal Championship Six Horse Hitch. The Royal says this session sells out every year and advises arriving by 6pm.
  • Sunday 15 November, 3pm: the Royal Rodeo Championship Finals presented by Ontario Ford Dealers.

For VIP Platinum and Gold tickets bought from the Royal, the dress code is smart casual or business casual from 6 to 10 November and black tie from 11 to 14 November.

The top tier is the Royal Terrace: a limited number of tables for eight each evening overlooking the ring, with valet parking, a Royal concierge, dinner, and access to the members-only Tanbark Club, home of the Horse Show after-party. Sky Suites and VIP subscriptions are also available. Terrace tables and VIP seats are booked by enquiry.

Tickets and getting there

General admission starts at C$34 on the Royal’s official ticket page and is valid for one day. Horse Show tickets are sold through Ticketmaster and include same-day general admission, as does the Chef’s Table Dining Series (from C$182). All tickets are final sale. Groups of 10 or more can contact the Royal’s sales team for dedicated seating. Other attractions include the Gay Lea Butter Sculpting Showdown and the breed classes in the Horse Palace.

Parking is C$18 a day (C$15 after 6pm), is not guaranteed, and is tightest on Thursdays and Saturdays, the Royal says. Exhibition GO Station is on GO Transit‘s Lakeshore West line, and the TTC 509 and 511 streetcars and 29 bus serve the grounds. The Royal flags weekend GO and UP Express construction on 7 to 8 and 14 to 15 November.

Andrew Lovesey is Editor-in-Chief of Not An Atlas, and always on the hunt for the next big thing: where to go, where to stay and what's worth the photo. His first trip was to the family cottage in Prince Edward Island, all rolling hills, red sand cliffs and jellyfish drifting in the North Atlantic. He'll sit anywhere but the middle seat (no armrest wars), never flies without the adapter that lets his AirPods play the in-flight movie, and has eaten at a McDonald's in every country he's visited. Iceland gets a pass because it doesn't have one. He once learned to bead earrings from Aleqa Hammond, Greenland's first female premier, on a ship in the Northwest Passage, and will tell anyone who'll listen that Cincinnati is wildly underrated. Friends say charming, driven and loyal. His mum says persuasive. Next stop: Greece.
