Venice Sets 72 Fee Days for 2027

Venice's day-tripper fee will apply on 72 days in 2027, from Good Friday to Ferragosto, with longer hours and a €10 cap. Exemptions come later.

Clients planning a day in Venice next spring or summer should expect to pay on far more days than before. The fee now starts at Easter, runs through mid-August and covers both of Italy’s big spring holiday stretches day by day.

The Comune di Venezia says its executive (the Giunta) approved the 2027 calendar for the contributo di accesso, the access fee for day visitors, on 15 October.

What changes in 2027

  • 72 days, up from 60 in 2026. The trial began in 2024 with 29 days and rose to 54 in 2025. 2027 is the fourth year in a row.
  • Season: from Good Friday, 26 March, to Ferragosto Sunday, 15 August 2027. In 2026 it stopped at the end of July.
  • Hours: 08:30 to 16:30 Venice time, half an hour longer than 2026’s 16:00 finish.
  • Pattern: mostly Friday to Sunday, plus extra days for holidays and long weekends, including the Easter weekend with Easter Monday and the Ferragosto weekend.
  • Two continuous blocks: 23 April to 2 May (Liberation Day and Labour Day) and 28 May to 6 June (around Republic Day on 2 June).
  • Price: capped at a maximum of €10.

What isn’t set yet

The council says the rules will be completed “in the coming weeks” through further decisions. Those will set the exemptions and exclusions, how booking, payment and checks work, and when the booking portal opens. Don’t quote clients a price below the €10 cap or promise an exemption until those decisions are published.

Why it matters for families

Easter Sunday falls on 28 March 2027, so the Easter weekend is now a fee period. The 28 May to 6 June block may also overlap the UK May half-term. Check the exact dates for your clients’ region on our school holidays guide.

“We are confirming the access fee in the belief that this trial is the right path,” says Michele Zuin, the city’s budget councillor. He calls it one piece of a much broader plan to manage tourist flows.
