Seabourn Goes Back to Egypt in 2029
Seabourn's 2029 summer season returns to Egypt for the first time in more than five years, adds a Gulf of Bothnia voyage, and brings Seabourn Encore back to Alaska.
Seabourn has opened its 2029 summer season: 166 sailings to more than 180 destinations across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Alaska, and Canada and New England, on Seabourn Ovation, Seabourn Quest and Seabourn Encore. The headline is a return to Egypt, the line’s first in more than five years.
Mediterranean: Egypt is back
Seabourn Ovation sails 21 itineraries from March to November 2029. Select voyages include an overnight in Alexandria, which allows time for Cairo and the pyramids at Giza. New specialty voyages include Italian Coast & Fireworks Over Corsica and Pyramids & Evening at Ephesus. There is also a maiden call at Kapsali on the Greek island of Kythira.
“Our 2029 Ocean Voyages collection offers guests more ways to spend meaningful time in the destinations they visit,” said Crystal Morgan, Seabourn’s senior director of deployment and itinerary planning.
Northern Europe: the Gulf of Bothnia
From May to September 2029, Seabourn Quest sails Scandinavia, the Baltic, the British Isles, northern Norway, Iceland and Greenland. The new seven-day Gulf of Bothnia voyage goes farther north in the Baltic than most cruises, with maiden calls at Härnösand in Sweden and at Kemi, Rauma and Oulu in Finland.
Other maiden calls include Alta and Frøya in Norway. There are extended stays or overnights in Bordeaux, Rouen, Helsinki, Tallinn, Edinburgh and Hamburg. Turku, Finland’s oldest city, marks its 900th anniversary in 2029. Voyages can be combined into trips of 14, 21, 28 days or more.
Alaska, Canada and New England
- Alaska: Seabourn Encore returns with seven-day Juneau–Vancouver voyages from May to September, plus 10- and 11-day itineraries to Valdez, Whittier and College Fjord. An Expedition Team leads optional Zodiac and kayak outings, and some voyages cruise BC’s Great Bear Rainforest coast.
- Canada and New England: Seabourn Quest sails 12- and 13-day voyages in September and October, with overnights in Boston, Quebec City and St. John’s, and calls at Gaspé, Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Prince Edward Island.
On the menu
Dining on these voyages will follow Earth & Ocean, a fleetwide culinary philosophy Seabourn announced on Tuesday 20 October. It takes its name from the Earth & Ocean restaurant the line introduced in 2018 and, according to Seabourn, will now shape menus, onboard programming and experiences ashore.

Seabourn’s examples include lingcod with buttered spinach, arugula and green apple in Alaska, and Arctic char with fingerling potatoes and a lemon-butter caper sauce in Northern Europe. Over the next year the line says it will add chef-led experiences and market visits, regional scenic-cruising brunches and seafood boils, refreshed Patio menus, fresh pasta and an enhanced caviar program.
“Our Earth & Ocean philosophy was shaped by guest feedback about the experiences they value most,” said Michael Stendebach, Seabourn’s senior vice-president of guest experience and product development. Seabourn has not yet said which ships or voyages get which experiences, or when.
