What these dates do to demand

  • Queensland's King's Birthday holiday is in October (4 October 2027), not June as in most states, so it adds a long weekend at the end of the spring school break.
  • Queensland state schools finish for summer on 10 December 2027, about a week before most other states, giving Queensland families an early run at December travel.
  • The Ekka public holiday (Wednesday 11 August 2027) applies to Brisbane only and lifts mid-week demand around the RNA Showgrounds.
