Air Canada and United Add Summer 2027 Routes

Louisville, Indianapolis and Edmonton–Newark join the joint venture map next summer, with United adding Denver links to Ottawa and Québec City and Newark–St. John's.

Next summer brings three new nonstop transborder links for Canadian travellers and four more from the US side. For advisors, that means fewer connections to mid-sized US cities and, from Ottawa and Québec City, a one-stop route west through Denver.

Air Canada and United Airlines announced the routes on Friday 16 October under their transborder joint business agreement. Air Canada says the two carriers have agreed to renew and expand that agreement, subject to regulatory approval, and that an application has gone to Transport Canada.

Air Canada’s new routes

Route Flight Departs Arrives Frequency Season
Toronto–Louisville AC8561 14:00 15:35 Up to daily 28 Apr–31 Oct 2027
Louisville–Toronto AC8562 16:10 17:37 Up to daily 28 Apr–31 Oct 2027
Montréal–Indianapolis AC8563 17:00 19:31 Daily 1 Jun–30 Sep 2027
Indianapolis–Montréal AC8564 14:00 16:10 Daily 1 Jun–30 Sep 2027
Edmonton–Newark AC1562 06:00 12:23 4x weekly 1 Jun–17 Oct 2027
Newark–Edmonton AC1563 13:20 16:33 4x weekly 1 Jun–17 Oct 2027

Times are local. Toronto–Louisville starts in late April and goes daily in May, the airline says. Air Canada will also put the larger Airbus A220 on Edmonton–San Francisco.

United’s additions

According to the Air Canada release, United will add for summer 2027:

  • Seasonal Newark–St. John’s flights. St. John’s International Airport says this brings back Newark service after more than a decade.
  • New Denver–Ottawa service. Ottawa’s airport authority says Denver becomes United’s fourth destination from the capital.
  • New Denver–Québec City service.
  • More flights between Washington, D.C., and Québec City.
  • 65% more daily seats between Denver and Winnipeg.

The release gives no start dates, frequencies or aircraft for the United routes. United had not posted its own release on these routes when we checked.

The joint venture so far

Air Canada says the partnership has added 20 new routes since 2022, carried more than 4.3 million passengers jointly and supports more than 1,200 connecting itineraries.
