Explora III Arrives in New York
Explora Journeys' newest ship, its first on LNG, made its maiden New York call and hosted regional advisors on board before heading south for a first Caribbean season.
EXPLORA III, the newest ship from Explora Journeys, MSC Group’s luxury ocean brand, has made her maiden call to New York City. The ship marked the visit with a Crest Exchange Ceremony between her leadership team and port representatives, a maritime tradition for a vessel’s first call.
The detail advisors will care about: travel advisors from across the region were welcomed on board during the call to see the ship first-hand. After New York, the ship continues along the US and Canadian East Coast before repositioning to Miami for her inaugural Caribbean season.
EXPLORA III is the brand’s first LNG-powered ship and, the company says, the most spacious in its fleet. It is the third of six planned by 2028. EXPLORA IV follows in early 2027, with EXPLORA V and VI through 2027 into 2028.
“As the third ship in our fleet and the halfway point toward our vision of six ships by 2028, she marks an important milestone for the brand,” said Chris Austin, president, North America.
For advisors
- Ask about a ship visit: if you missed New York, ask your Explora contact whether more advisor visits are planned along the East Coast or in Miami.
- Who to pitch: luxury clients in the Northeast, eastern Canada and Florida who would rather drive or take a short flight to the ship. The Caribbean season from Miami is the next sell.
