Expedia Becomes the NHL’s Official Travel Partner
A multi-year deal gives Expedia NHL marketing rights in Canada and the US, presenting rights to the playoff bracket challenges, and a place at the league's marquee outdoor games.
Expedia and the NHL have signed a multi-year partnership naming Expedia the league’s Official Travel Partner in North America. Announced on 13 October from Seattle and New York, the deal gives Expedia marketing rights and NHL designations in both Canada and the US. It also keeps Expedia’s exclusive rights in online travel, vacation rentals and hotels.
What fans will see
- In arenas: Expedia branding on the NHL’s digitally enhanced dasherboards through the regular season and the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
- At events: a presence at All-Star Weekend, the Heritage Classic, the Winter Classic and the Stadium Series.
- Online: Expedia presents the Stanley Cup Playoffs Bracket Challenge and the Second Chance Bracket. NHL.com will link fans to a way of combining travel with regular-season or playoff games.
“From take off to puck drop, Expedia can help fans get there, stay there and make the most of every NHL travel experience,” said Tracey Weber, general manager of Expedia. George Dudas, the NHL’s vice-president of business development, said the deal gives fans “new ways to combine travel and memorable NHL moments.”
Why it matters
Sports travel is one of the few segments where demand is built in: the schedule is published, and fans follow their team. This deal puts an online agency directly into that path in both countries, at a time when Canadian travel to the US is still well below 2024 levels.
For advisors
- The competition: game-plus-hotel bundles will be easier for fans to book themselves.
- Your edge: premium seats, hospitality and outdoor-game logistics, where an agency bundle is weakest.
- Watch: the Winter Classic and Stadium Series venues, and package launches on NHL.com.
