From Thursday, 15 October 2026, it costs more to book Air Canada by phone. New bookings made with a contact-centre agent carry a fee of C$30 plus tax per passenger, and it is non-refundable. Aeroplan reward bookings made by phone are included.

Who doesn’t pay

  • Website and app bookings: no fee.
  • Customers who need specialized care and support, including those with accessibility needs.
  • Disrupted travel: help with an existing trip affected by a delay, cancellation or other disruption.

What it means

The fee pushes simple bookings online and keeps phone agents for complex ones. A family of four booking by phone now pays C$120 plus tax before a fare is quoted.

For advisors

  • Tell clients who book direct. Older travellers and Aeroplan members who phone in are the most likely to be caught by surprise.
  • Agency bookings: Air Canada‘s fee page talks about bookings made through its contact centre. If you call Air Canada for clients, check with your account manager how the fee applies.
  • Disruptions are exempt, so don’t let the fee put clients off calling when a flight is cancelled.
