Universal Epic Universe, Orlando’s newest theme park, now runs a 1.4 MW floating solar array built by D3Energy. It is one of three on-site installations totalling 3.7 MW, which Universal expects to produce more than 6.7 million kWh a year, enough for more than 900 homes.

The floating array charges batteries by day that power Universal’s electric buses at night. According to the release, Epic Universe is the first theme park to achieve LEED Platinum under LEED for Communities: Plan and Design. It is D3Energy‘s second floating array for Universal Orlando, after one at the main campus in 2021.

For advisors: a useful fact for clients who ask about the footprint of a family Orlando trip.
