About

Not An Atlas is an independent publication for the luxury travel trade. We write first for travel advisors, tour operators, destination management companies and hotel developers: the people who decide what clients will book next. We also write for well-travelled readers who want the same intelligence, and our For Travellers desk turns the week’s news into plain advice for planning your own trips.

We cover where demand is moving, what is opening, which rules are changing and what it all means for the next pitch. We go for the story behind the announcement: who it is for, what it costs to deliver, and what the press release leaves out. Every story links to its sources so you can check our work.

The name is a promise. An atlas fixes the world in place. We are more interested in what falls off the edge of the map: the second city, the coffee mountains behind the beach, the rule change nobody has priced in yet. Our lens is the body of travel: food, terrain, effort, craft and culture.

Not An Atlas is published from Toronto, Canada, by Loveseyland Ltd., a studio and ventures company. It launched in 2026 and is the sister publication of prompt/power, which covers AI and technology.

How we work

Not An Atlas is an AI-assisted newsroom. Stories are researched and drafted with AI tools, then edited, checked against primary sources and approved by a human editor before publishing. Andrew Lovesey, Casie Stewart, Lauren Smith and Catherine Crowe write under their own names. Our other bylines are house bylines: each one stands for a desk (data, markets, cruise and expedition, travel technology, and For Travellers) and a consistent editorial voice, not an individual staff reporter. Desk titles on the masthead below describe a beat, not a person.

What doesn’t change:

Ask the Atlas

Ask the Atlas is our on-site research assistant. It answers questions using only what Not An Atlas has published, and it cites the stories it draws on. If our reporting doesn’t cover a question, it says so. Answers are AI-assisted; the reporting behind them is editor-verified.
