The Wolseley Hotel New York

The Wolseley Hotel New York is the first property for The Wolseley Hotels, a new luxury brand from Bangkok-based Minor Hotels named after the famous Piccadilly restaurant. It will have 76 rooms and suites at 130 West 44th Street, steps from Bryant Park, in the building that currently operates as The Chatwal. The restaurant comes with it: this will be the first Wolseley in the United States.

The building and design

The building went up in 1905 as the clubhouse of The Lambs, described as America’s first professional theatrical club, and was designed by McKim, Mead & White. Ben-Josef Group Holdings acquired the ground lease in 2025. Minor promises classic design, bespoke craftsmanship and preservation of the historic architecture, but has not named a designer for the conversion.

Eat and drink

The Wolseley New York restaurant will be the brand’s North American flagship, modelled on the London original with all-day dining, classic cocktails and a café feel. Other announced spaces:

  • a cellar-level speakeasy bar
  • a fully reimagined wellness centre
  • 76 guest rooms and suites, with categories still to be published

What it means for advisors

The name does a lot of the selling. UK clients and anyone who knows breakfast at The Wolseley will understand the product immediately, and the theatre-district history suits Broadway-focused trips. The location works for Midtown business travel too, with Grand Central close by. Stays will earn through Minor DISCOVERY, part of the GHA DISCOVERY network. One practical point: the building is still The Chatwal in Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, and Hyatt reservations have been available into 2027, so check which brand a booking sits under and what happens to it at changeover.

Opening status

Minor Hotels announced the brand and the New York flagship in March 2026, with an opening of early 2027. Minor’s upcoming openings page still shows early 2027. No exact rebrand date has been published.
