The Standard, Austin

The Standard returns to the US after more than a decade by taking over the South Congress Hotel: 82 rooms, a rooftop pool and an Austin-led creative team.

The Standard’s first new US hotel in more than a decade takes over the South Congress Hotel, at 1603 S Congress Avenue. The publicist gives the first quarter of 2027; the brand’s own site says “Coming 2027”.

The building and design

The project is led by an Austin team that includes architect Michael Hsu, James Moody of Guerilla Suit and Timberline Real Estate Partners, with Amar Lalvani of Hyatt’s Lifestyle Group. Interiors are by Goodrich Design with Verena Haller and the Lifestyle Group design team.

Rooms

The brand’s site lists 82 rooms and suites.

Eat and drink

Restaurants and bars have not been named yet. There’s a reworked courtyard and a rooftop pool over South Congress.

For advisors

SoCo is Austin’s walkable strip of boutiques, restaurants and live-music venues, so this suits clients who want to stay in the neighbourhood rather than downtown. Book early for SXSW in March and Austin City Limits in October. World of Hyatt applies.
