Rosewood Blue Palace
Rosewood Blue Palace is the reworking of the Blue Palace resort on Crete’s northeast coast, between the fishing village of Plaka and the port of Elounda, looking across to Spinalonga island. It will be Rosewood’s first hotel in Greece. The owner is Phāea, a private Greek family company.
The building and design
The design team is Greek. Greek studio K-Studio is handling the interiors, and the Greek-born, London-based designer Afroditi Krassa is designing the restaurants and bars. Rosewood has not separately named an architect.
Rooms and suites
There will be 154 rooms and suites, and 85 of them will have private pools. That share is the main selling point: more than half the inventory comes with its own water.
Eat and drink
Six restaurants and bars are planned, including several specialty restaurants, a beach club, a bar facing Spinalonga, and an all-day restaurant using produce from an on-site organic garden.
Wellness
Rosewood’s Asaya concept will anchor wellness, with a fitness centre, movement studio, yoga pavilion and hydrotherapy areas. There are three outdoor pools with sea views, including separate adult and children’s pools.
What it means for advisors
Elounda is already one of Crete’s established luxury pockets, and this brings a global brand with loyal clients to it. It suits:
- Couples and honeymooners who want a private pool without a villa rental
- Families who need a kids’ pool and several restaurants on site
- Island-hoppers adding Crete to Athens, Santorini or Mykonos
Heraklion airport is the usual gateway. Crete resorts typically run seasonally, but Rosewood has not published season dates, so confirm them before quoting shoulder months. Rosewood Elite is the brand’s advisor programme.
Opening status
Rosewood announced the project in October 2023 and said the resort would reopen in 2027. Its property page repeats 2027 in the text. No month or booking date has been published.
