Pendry Punta Mita
Pendry Punta Mita is a 125-room resort being built on the Punta Mita peninsula north of Puerto Vallarta, overlooking La Lancha, one of the area’s best-known surf breaks. It is the younger, more social sister to Montage Punta Mita, which is going up in the same community. Both are being developed by DINE and LCA Capital with Montage International, which owns the Pendry brand, and they broke ground together in March 2025.
Punta Mita is a 1,500-acre master-planned community on a private peninsula about 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta, with about 15 kilometres (9.5 miles) of beaches. La Lancha gives this side of the peninsula a surf-town feel, and the resort will lean into outdoor and beach activity.
The building and design
The design team is Sordo Madaleno, Studio Munge and EDSA, a strong Mexico-meets-Toronto pairing for architecture and interiors. Alongside the hotel are 32 Pendry Residences overlooking La Lancha.
Rooms and suites
Plans include 125 rooms, several restaurants and a rooftop bar, Spa Pendry, a resort pool, a game room, meeting and event space and Paintbox, the children’s programme shared with Montage. Restaurant names, chefs and suite categories have not been announced.
What it means for advisors
- Best fit: younger couples, friend groups and surf-curious clients who want energy, a rooftop bar and a beach on the doorstep.
- Easy to split with Montage next door for families whose generations want different things.
- Puerto Vallarta airlift from Canada and the US keeps it a simple sell.
- Peak demand will follow Pacific Mexico’s winter season, roughly November to April.
Opening status
The March 2025 groundbreaking release set 2027 for Montage and did not give Pendry a separate year. Hospitality Design reported in February 2026 that the Punta Mita Pendry is slated to launch in 2027. No opening month or reservation date has been announced, and the earlier 2023 announcement of both resorts had pointed to 2026.
