Milaroca, A Belmond Hotel

Milaroca, A Belmond Hotel is a new-build beach resort on a 105-acre estate in Riviera Nayarit on Mexico’s Pacific coast, with two kilometres of protected beach and its own organic farm. It is being developed by Cora Pacific Development, led by Barbara Machen and Rosetta Getty, with Belmond managing. For Belmond, better known for historic hotels and trains, it is a chance to build something from scratch.

The estate is about 40 minutes by car from Puerto Vallarta International Airport, with the surf and art towns of San Pancho and Sayulita nearby and named as inspiration for the design. It is a quieter stretch of coast than Puerto Vallarta itself, but close enough to its flights.

Rooms and suites

Belmond describes 57 guest pavilions, ranging from junior suites and one-bedroom suites to jungle suites and 12 three-bedroom villas, many with private plunge pools. A further 27 private villas, offered by invitation only, will be serviced by Belmond. There will be four outdoor pools, a wellness centre and a retail offering.

The building and design

Design is led by Waldo’s Designs and Clements Design, with interiors curated by Rosetta Getty as creative director. Six dining venues are planned, supplied by the estate’s farm. Names, chefs and spa details have not been announced.

What it means for advisors

  • Best fit: design-literate couples and families who want a beach estate with space rather than a big resort.
  • Belmond Bellini Club is the brand’s preferred partner programme; confirm participation once bookable.
  • Puerto Vallarta’s airlift makes it easy from much of North America.
  • Pacific Mexico’s dry season runs roughly November to April, which is peak demand.

Opening status

Belmond first announced Milaroca in June 2023 with a 2025 opening. The release on Belmond’s media hub now says 2027, and Belmond’s December 2023 outlook also listed it for 2027. No opening month or booking date has been announced, and we found no construction update since then.
