Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi

Bulgari Resort Ranfushi will be the jeweller’s first hotel in the Maldives, on a 20-hectare private island in Raa Atoll. The name means “little gold island” in Dhivehi, which is either a happy coincidence or very good branding. It is a small resort by Maldives standards, with 54 villas, and its opening date has moved more than once.

The setting

Raa Atoll is in the north of the country, about 45 minutes from Malé by seaplane. Neighbouring luxury resorts include Joali, Joali Being and InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau, so the atoll already draws clients looking for high-end island stays away from the busier South Malé area.

As announced, the 54 keys break down as:

  • 33 beach villas, each with a private pool
  • 20 overwater villas
  • The Bulgari Villa, on its own separate island

Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel (ACPV), the Milan studio behind every Bulgari hotel, is designing the resort.

Eat and drink

The food line-up mirrors the brand’s city hotels. Il Ristorante – Niko Romito brings the three-Michelin-star chef’s Italian cooking, Bao Li Xuan offers Chinese fine dining in the vein of its Shanghai sibling, Hōseki serves Japanese cuisine, and La Spiaggia handles casual beach food. There will also be a Bulgari Bar, alongside the Bulgari Spa, a fitness centre, a yoga pavilion, a library and a Bulgari boutique.

What it means for advisors

With only 54 villas, inventory will be tight, especially over Christmas, New Year and the main honeymoon months. This is a natural fit for honeymooners, design-focused couples and clients who already stay at Bulgari hotels in Milan, Rome, Paris or Dubai and want the same aesthetic at the beach. The private-island Bulgari Villa is a contender for very high-net-worth families and buyouts. The Maldives’ drier northeast monsoon season, roughly December to April, is peak demand.

Opening status

Bulgari first said the resort would open by 2025, later moved it to 2026, and current reporting gives 2027. Brazil’s Panrotas reported 2027 in May 2026 in a piece on Bulgari’s pipeline to 2030, and TravelSort’s October 2026 round-up also lists 2027. No month has been announced. Given the history, check timing with the brand before taking deposits.
