Montage Punta Mita
Montage Punta Mita is a 145-room resort under construction inside Punta Mita, the 1,500-acre gated community on a private peninsula about 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. It is being built by Montage International with developer DINE and LCA Capital, alongside a sister Pendry resort, and the pair broke ground in March 2025. It joins an established luxury cluster on the peninsula that already includes the Four Seasons and St. Regis.
Punta Mita is surrounded by about 15 kilometres (9.5 miles) of beaches at the northern tip of Banderas Bay. The wider community has two Jack Nicklaus golf courses, five residential beach clubs and an ocean sports operation; access to these is described in the release as a benefit for residence owners, so confirm what hotel guests can use once rates load.
The building and design
Design is by Bernardi + Peschard Arquitectura, Idea Asociados and Girvin Associates, with EDSA also credited on the project. Alongside the hotel are 62 Montage Residences of three to five bedrooms.
Rooms and suites
The resort will have 145 rooms, several restaurants including a signature farm-to-table concept, Spa Montage, a fitness centre, resort and family pools, and the Compass Sports centre for pickleball, tennis and outdoor activities. Paintbox, Montage’s children’s programme, will be on site, as will meeting and outdoor event space. Restaurant names have not been announced.
What it means for advisors
This is a family-friendly, polished option for clients who like Montage in Laguna Beach, Los Cabos or Deer Valley and want Pacific Mexico with dependable flights. Puerto Vallarta has good airlift from Canada and the US, and the winter season, roughly November to April, will drive demand. For clients who find the established peninsula resorts too formal, Montage’s relaxed style is a useful alternative. A younger-skewing Pendry is opening next door.
Opening status
Montage first announced the project in 2023 with a 2026 opening. At the March 2025 groundbreaking, the release gave 2027. No opening month or reservation date has been announced.
