SpongeBob Sets Sail
The SpongeBob Musical will be the headline show on Hero of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's fourth Icon Class ship, from Miami in August 2027. It is a family-cruise closer.
Royal Caribbean has named the headline show for Hero of the Seas, its fourth Icon Class ship: The SpongeBob Musical, the first at-sea production of the Tony-nominated Broadway show. Hero sails from Miami from August 2027.
“‘The SpongeBob Musical’ delivers on that by bringing generations together,” said Christi Coachman, Royal Caribbean‘s vice president of entertainment.
What else is on Hero
- Crown’s Edge, part skywalk and part zip line, 154 feet above the ocean
- Category 6, which the line calls the largest waterpark at sea
- Nine pools, including the new Coconut Cove and adults-only The Hideaway, with what the line says is the largest swim-up bar at sea
- 28 dining venues, including the Orleans Parrish Supper Club and train-car dining at Royal Railway – Hero Station
- The Ultimate Family Treehouse, a three-deck suite with a rooftop terrace, whirlpool and two-deck teen space
Itineraries
Seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings from Miami, all calling at Perfect Day CocoCay in The Bahamas. West: Cozumel and Roatán. East: St. Thomas and St. Maarten.
For advisors
- Who to pitch: families with children aged roughly 5 to 14, and grandparents travelling with them. The show is a strong reason to book Hero over its sisters.
- What to book: the Ultimate Family Treehouse goes first on every Icon Class ship; quote it early for big family groups.
- When: summer 2027 and holiday weeks will be the pressure dates for school-age families.
