Jasper’s Lakeside Symphony Returns

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra plays Lac Beauvert on 17 October, the first signature event since Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge reopened. Weekend packages close 15 October.

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra returns to the shore of Lac Beauvert on Saturday 17 October for Symphony Under the Stars at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. It is a signature event of the Jasper Dark Sky Festival, which runs 16 to 25 October in Jasper National Park, a park the lodge describes as the world’s second-largest dark sky preserve.

Why this year matters. The lodge calls the concert the first signature event to return since the resort reopened in late spring. Trade reports put the renovation at C$100 million, with more than 330 of its 397 rooms, suites and Signature Cabins redesigned, a refreshed Main Lodge and new restaurants. It also comes two years after the July 2024 wildfire, which destroyed about a third of the structures in the Jasper townsite. The lodge’s Main Lodge was spared, though two guest cabins and some staff housing were damaged, Travelweek reported at the time.

How to go. The lodge’s offer page lists:

  • Weekend package, 16 to 18 October: two nights from $999 a night (double occupancy, Fairmont Room), a Saturday multi-course dinner with wine pairings for two, and two concert tickets. Taxes and a $65 daily resort fee are extra. Book by 15 October.
  • Starlight Experience add-on: $635 per person for a Friday welcome reception, a premium dinner, reserved seats with host bar access and a meet-and-greet with orchestra members.
  • Tickets only: concert $135 per person plus taxes and fees (doors 7 p.m., concert 8 p.m.), or dinner and concert $399 per person, taxes and fees included.

The page lists a 14-day cancellation policy for rooms and suites, so a booking made now falls inside it. Availability is limited, the lodge says.

For advisors: A short-notice sell for Alberta and western clients who can drive in, and a way to see the renovated lodge before the winter season.

Takeaway: Book the weekend by 15 October, or buy a $135 concert ticket and stay on for the rest of the festival.
